El pH de la sangre humana debe ser ligeramente alcalino ( 7.35 - 7.45 ). Por debajo o por arriba de este rango comienzan los problemas o las enfermedades. Un pH de 7.0 es neutral. Un pH por debajo de 7.0 es acido. Un pH por encima de 7.0 es alkalino.

Un pH acido puede resultar de una dieta acidificante, estres emocional, toxic overload, and/or immune reactions or any process que prive de oxigeno a las celulas y de otros nutrientes. Aunque pueda parecer que las frutas citricas pudieran tener un efecto acidificante en el organismo, el acido citrico que contienen en realidad producen un efecto alkalinizing en el sistema.

Debe notarse que la tendencia alcalinizante o acidificante de un alimento en el organismo no tiene nada que ver con el pH real del alimento en si mismo. Uno de los primeros indicadores que se debe revisar es el pH de la orina. Su valor ideal es de 6.5 Si el valor que se encuentra es de 5.5, entonces la orina es diez veces mas acida de lo normal. Si el valor que se determina es de 4.5, entonces su orina es cien veces mas acida de lo normal.
